The Action Continues...

despite the rain!!

Well it turned out to be a dry end to an exceptionally wet week of the last session, everybody was grateful that the sun finally decided to show itself! It was, however, still a bit cold, so some of our excursions were changed; the pool groups went to the indoor pool instead of to Nyon Piscine.

The Five year olds were able to go on their boat trip from Coppet to Nyon port, and they stayed on for a while in the playground beside the port. The Sevens had a great day planned- Nyon pool in the morning and then bowling in the afternoon, they had to go to the indoor pool in Geneva, but the bowling went off as planned, so all in all it was still a great day.

Most of the groups that stayed on campus had inside activities scheduled, but some were forced under cover in the morning. Some of them passed the time with a tricky scavenger hunt- chasing around campus trying to find three leaf clovers, flags, and the number of chairs in the cafeteria. The Seven and Eight year olds got their toy dogs that they had decorated in Pottery back this afternoon, fresh from the kiln at Glazy Dayz Pottery in Coppet, and they all look fantastic.

The gyms, dance and drama, all of the counselors and campers are starting to think ahead to special day at the end of next week and plan skits and performances. The theme this session is ‘Lights, Camers, Action!!’ so it leaves lots of room to be creative and hopefully lots of counselors and campers alike will come to camp in great costumes!!

Mikey

What do your friends call you? - Bee

Current residence (other than camp) – Washington

Languages spoken – English

Hobbies/Sports – Photography, Bird watching

Position at Village Camps for 2007 – Pottery specialist

Have you worked for Village Camps before? – No, this is my first year!

Interesting facts about Mikey:

  • He has already returned to Walla Walla in Washington to continue his Postgraduate studies in Ancient Roman Ceramic Design.
  • He also discovered a hidden talent for photography this summer as he briefly served as the camp photographer (although given that his other hobby is bird watching there were quite a few pictures or sparrows and crows instead of children and activities!)
  • He hopes to return next year and we would be lucky to have a counselor so skilled in pottery.
