We have a much
larger number of campers this session than
we did last session, and as a result camp is
slightly more hectic, but lots of fun
nonetheless! We had the first excursions of
this session today, some were changed
because of the weather but they all went
well. The Four year olds took the boat from
Coppet to
Nyon
port and then spent the rest of the morning
at the Nyon playground. Some of the Seniors
and the Six year olds were supposed to go to
Nyon piscine this morning, but instead went
to the Natural History museum in Geneva. The
groups in the afternoon were lucky enough to
go to the indoor pool in Varembe this
afternoon, so between the Pool, the museum
and the bowling in Gland this afternoon, it
was a really tough day for the seniors, how
do they put up with it? As if that wasn’t
enough, I’m sure they’ll all be partying
hard at PALEO this week so hopefully they
won’t be too tired by Friday …
We were lucky
to have a visit by a famous magician, Chris
Corn, who has been on a lot of American TV
talk shows. Chris timed his visit perfectly
to coincide with the rain and entertained
all the groups on site during the day.
Exactly how he managed to do those tricks l
have no idea, simply amazing. Look out for
his name in the future.
The
Eights went to Trelex today, and apart from
a
run in with some disgruntled bees,
everything went smoothly.
We are speculating at this point that the
bees were unhappy with our efforts to build
huts for
the
Fairies of Trelex, who as everybody knows
are the arch enemies of the bumble bees!
However our intermediates are a brave bunch
and construction will go on!
The other
groups were doing activities on
campus, dance,
drama, and quite a few groups made cups (or
rather decorated them) in our Glazy Days P ottery
class, we have pottery on Mondays, Tuesdays
and Wednesdays and the campers
normally get their dogs back on Friday after
they’ve been fired in the kiln.
We have a
couple of reminders for parents. Firstly if
you pick up your child from camp we advise
you to use the top parking area. Although a
little further to wal k
it is a lot safer than the lower parking as
the camp buses are loading at this time and
there are only
a limited number of places. Please drive
slowly. We are expecting sunny
weather for the next few days and it would
be a big help if your children have a high
factor sun cream with them as well as a
water bottle and cap.
Finally, our
last day of the session Friday August 3rd
is a special day at camp based on the theme
of ‘Fairy Tales’. We cordially invite all
of you to camp from 14:45 to see some
performances by the children. Camp will end
at the usual time.
