Day three and camp is running smoothly, the campers have settled in and thoroughly enjoyed themselves today, particularly after lunch when the sun finally decided to make an appearance!! Although the weather was better the schedule still had to be changed a little, for example the senior groups who were scheduled to go on a hike in the Jura mountains instead took a picnic lunch and spent the day at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, wandering through the exhibitions doing a scavenger hunt that the tour guides at the museum had organized.

The rest of the Seniors were either bowling or cooling off at the Lac de Divonne. The piscine at Varembé was full of Village campers, with the Eight year olds and Nine year olds both having gone swimming at some point today, and while they came back refreshed and full of energy, it was a different story with our swimming specialists who are currently recuperating from the somewhat hectic experience.

Meanwhile the four year olds spent the afternoon in the Natural History museum in Geneva visiting Janus, the two headed turtle, and the five year olds were in Signal de Bougy for the day, where they made lovely brioche bread in the shape of flowers, animals and stickmen, and also visited the petting zoo to see the goats, horses, rabbits, and of course, the incredibly large pig.

As always it was another day of intense action on the Six Square courts, and although the quest to be crowned the ‘King’ is never ending, the competition is definitely starting to heat up and will probably continue to do so over the next six weeks. As one of our mini campers is currently in the office and amusing herself by attacking the staff with a fly swatter, I shall have to end this report, but suffice to say that we are on course for a great summer, especially if this weather sticks around and allows us to really take full advantage of the great facilities that are available to us this year!

Some rain, but sunny in the afternoon!

Ryan Farr has come all the way over from Colorado in the United States to work with us for his second summer at Village Camps.  He is a student at the University of Northern Colorado, studying Elementary Education.

Last summer he was an assistant counselor with several different groups and he was great with all of them. He has spent the first week here as our Pottery specialist, and next week will be taking over one of the senior groups as a senior counselor.

Ryan is very active, plays many sports, and won back to back State Championships in ice Hockey with the Denver University Youth Club team. He was also on the first US Junior Select hockey team to win a medal in ice hockey at a tournament in Prague in 2003.
